Mandala, a full-service ad agency, is seeking a graphic designer to join its Bend, Oregon team.
Position Summary:
Lead design artist for all collateral, signage, graphic standards, corporate identity, and websites. Must strive to produce work that represents “the best in the category” and is worthy of regional and national award shows. Must create concepts that are attainable within the known limits of the client’s budget. Must possess strong computer skills.

Essential Functions:
Work closely with the Art Directors and the Creative Director to ensure the highest design standards are met in all the work Mandala produces.

Will provide client-approved, tight comps to the Production artist along with a detailed checklist of specifications.
Supervise freelancers and lead the Graphic Services Department. Help establish and maintain standards of performance, design and typographical excellence.
The Graphics Services Department is expected to:
Faithfully render mechanicals accurately and error-free. Render all typography as requested and to fine-tune the typography, achieving a fine balance between design and readability. Once work is proofed and approved, it is to be output, error-free, in the medium specified, i.e. mechanical artwork, CD ROM, PowerPoint, PDFs etc.
This is a critical quality control position requiring fastidious attention to detail, an exceptional sense of graphic design, an appreciation of type as an art form, and strong skills in computer design.
Recommend appropriate software, equipment and training with a view to improving the technical capabilities of the department as appropriate.
Other duties as assigned by Creative Director or Management.

Special Requirements:
Must have extensive experience with image manipulation and retouching and Desktop Design/Publishing using Macintosh computer software as primary design tool. Experience using Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, GoLive or Dreamweaver), Word, and PowerPoint as required. Flash programming and magazine layout a plus.
